Internet service comprised nationwide as breakdown in Jeddah cable

According to media reports, due to defective worldwide cable system internet consumers faced huge difficulties while using internet service.

It must be mentioned that IMEWE submarine cable carries significant amount of Pakistani bandwidth and its down-time is going to hit local ISPs with very serious challenges. They are also enraged over PTCL help line not attending calls.

Internet users in Pakistan will face slow internet browsing due to 'outage in global submarine cable systems providing internet bandwidth to Pakistan, IMEWE, PTCL said in a statement.

Another worldwide cable system SEA-ME-WE 4 is already under fix by the global consortium.


PTCL GM Imran Janjua claimed that internet services have been restored by using alternative routes.

All major ISPs, including PTCL have issued an advisory to their customers about degraded internet speeds. Due to the fault in SEA-ME-WE-4 cable, many PTCL users were facing slow browsing at peak hours.

"An worldwide consortium is trying to determine the technical fault and time required to fix it", a Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) spokesperson told.
