"He said the Kashmir problem can not be resolved through bullets and brickbats, instead it will be solved by embracing the Kashmiris".

"Since the counting of money is in progress, how can the prime minister make this claim".

Talking about Kashmir and Kashmiris, he said some people were trying to question their nationality. "Na gaali se na goli se, Kashmir ki samasya suljegi gale lagane se, " Modi said.

He said the truth will never come out if a probe would take place under Modi's supervision because he would not issue a report against his chief minister, and thus called for a probe by a sitting judge of the Supreme Court.

At the Red Fort, he also spoke at length about delivering a "new India" by 2022, listing his government's achievements, including a fight against corruption, reported Reuters.

"They have been made victim by certain vested interests who do not want peace in the Kashmir valley".

But the Government is committed to making Kashmir a paradise once again, the Prime Minister said. He said over Rs 1.75 lakh crore had been deposited in banks post note-ban and more than 18 lakh people with disproportionate income were under government scrutiny.

Popular support for demonetisation; a smooth Goods and Services Tax rollout; citizen ownership of Swachh Bharat; and people voluntarily giving up Liquified Petrolium Gas (LPG) subsidy to help the poor get gas connections, were all examples of team India's jan bhagidari spirit, said the Prime Minister.

PM Modi: People of India stand shoulder to shoulder with those affected due to natural disasters and the tragedy in Gorakhpur.
