Mark Zuckerberg Announces Birth of Second Child, Pens Letter to Newborn Daughter

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Dr. Priscilla Chan, just showed off their new baby girl, August, in a post to his Facebook page.

As they did with their first daughter, Maxima, nicknamed "Max", the couple wrote an open letter to August that they shared with the rest of the world.

The Zuckerberg family's newest family portrait includes their new daughter, August. It also announced the pair would donate 99 percent of their Facebook shares to the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, initially focused on "personalized learning, curing disease, connecting people and building strong communities".

"With all the advances in science and technology, your generation should live dramatically better lives than ours, and we have a responsibility to do our part to make that happen", the couple wrote, referring back to a letter written to their first daughter after her birth.

He additionally featured his good faith for her future, clarifying that "despite the fact that features regularly concentrate on what's wrong, regardless we trust these positive patterns will win out".

"The world can be a serious place". He will take a month off now and then the month of December.

In the update, Zuckerberg said he hopes August doesn't grow up too fast because childhood is such a magical time. I hope you're a great sleeper. "You've got us for that, and we'll do everything we possibly can to make sure the world is a better place for you and all children in your generation", Mark and Priscilla wrote in the letter to their child. In his most recent post, Zuckerberg had announced that he would take two months' paternity leave from Facebook, in keeping with the company's policies. Facebook allows employees to take four months off. Zuckerberg will be taking a month off now and another month off later this year.
