Body found in Nash missing person case

On Monday morning, the sheriff's office received information that the woman, identified as Glorika Townsend, had been killed During the follow-up, Rocky Mount Police found a vehicle associated with the missing person's case.

Stone said investigators haven't determined a motive for the slaying, but he said Lucas and Townsend were familiar with each other.

Glorika Cherta Townsend was reported missing on Thursday and her father on Monday evening said authorities were searching for her body after her auto was found in the parking lot of a building at 1701 Sunset Avenue in Rocky Mount.

Townsend was reported missing last Thursday.

Lucas made his first court appearance on Tuesday.

Townsend's auto was found Monday in the parking lot of Chico's Mexican Restaurant near a boat launch on the river, authorities said.

An Eastern Carolina sheriff's office says a missing person's case has turned into a death investigation, with one person in custody.

Medina said a suspect was in custody but did not name the person or describe his or her involvement in the case.
