2018 has officially been announced.

Arie Luyenduk Jr. was revealed as the newest "Bachelor" on Good Morning America. While most fans had their money on favorites from the recently concluded Rachel Lindsay season of The Bachelorette like Peter Kraus or Eric Bigger, the franchise surprised us all by going all the way back to Season 8 of The Bachelorette and selecting contestant Arie Luyendyk Jr.as its new rose-giver.

And get this: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Arie was the first pick for the 2015 season of The Bachelor, but ABC went with Chris Soules instead because Arie hadn't been on the franchise in two years. Now, the 36-year-old race vehicle driver is ready to find love again.

Many fans wanted Peter Kraus to be the next “Bachelor.”

"This is pretty surreal", Luyendyk Jr. "It doesn't really feel real yet, but I'm taking it step by step". He was known as "the Kissing Bandit", so he's a great kisser. When asked what he looks for in a woman, he said he wants someone "independent, strong, but then still gentle". Luyendyk said he hadn't told his family before the big announcement, not even his parents.

In addition, the handsome race vehicle driver also claimed that he had not told his parents that he was going to be ABC's new leading man, and that they were finding out on live television with the rest of America. However, it seems that ABC wanted someone who was genuinely ready to find his life partner, and settle down.

For example, Season 20 Bachelor Ben Higgins came in third place on Kaitlyn Bristowe's season of "The Bachelorette".
