Almost 900 linemen, damage assessors, electrical contractors, forestry crews, and support personnel will help their counterparts in the Sunshine State with restoring power that's cut off by Hurricane Irma.

The game was originally scheduled for Saturday at 6 p.m. EST but was moved to an 11 a.m. kickoff on Wednesday as Hurricane Irma intensified. Central Florida also announced its scheduled Friday night home game with Memphis had been called off.

"As the Hurricane's track has approached the state of Florida, it's become obvious that playing a football game is not the right thing to do", Florida Athletic Director Scott Stricklin said. Florida faces Iowa in Monday's Outback Bowl. However, on Thursday, Florida Gov. Rick Scott advised that all state universities focus on storm preparation.

Almost all stores were opened by the next day after the hurricane passed.

Also, Alabama State Parks have some available accommodations. "Playing a college football game Saturday would only add to that stress". A year ago after Hurricane Matthew, the grocery chain opened some stores later the same day as power was restored and curfews were lifted. Only Florida Atlantic's game at Wisconsin is still expected to be played. Even so, we are told there are rooms still available in the area but they are going fast.

"It's a very tough thing to juggle", Fisher said. "It's hard to say goodbye because you don't know if you're going to see them again". "It can be disturbing, but I think our guys have handled it well".
