Man Drops Engagement Ring Into Water During Proposal

"It was just waiting for that moment".

A Kansas City couple is learning to laugh about their botched marriage proposal after the diamond ring intended for the proposal fell into a pond during the big moment. "I heard the plop of the ring and I'm like, oh no", said Ruth Salas.

This couple might not have the picture ideal engagement story but they do have a story they hope will bring joy and laughter to others. Although insured for damage or for loss of just the diamond, the entire ring is not insured if it is lost, Salsa and Dixon said. A friend who had joined them for dinner that night started taking video of the moment, which soon took a turn for the worse as Seth dropped to one knee on a pedestrian bridge. "There were sticks going between my toes". Then it was just getting too dark.

"We probably had 25 people there".

Seconds after presenting the ring to his girlfriend of four years footage is said to show the expensive piece of jewellery falling out of the box before falling in through a gap in the bridge into the water below.

The search turned up empty. What is their plan?

Pal Staci who captured the moment set up a Go-Fund-Me page in a bid to claw back money for an engagement ring. "I don't have it on me, obviously, but it will all work out", Ruth said. It had zero dollars raised as of 3 p.m. Monday.

"It's been a roller coaster of emotions, to be honest", Salas told the newspaper on Monday.

The couple have faith and are trying to be good humored about it. "And for a moment I'll be like, 'What are you laughing (at)?' And I'm like, 'Oh, you're watching the Seth and Ruth video again, '" their friend Staci Dabney said.

Salas didn't even get a chance to formally accept the proposal before the chaos.

"We never got that far!"
