Mourinho: Rooney is a Man Utd legend

Man United fans have reason to be excited, given the 54-year-old has lifted the league title in his second season at FC Porto, Chelsea (twice), Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

The Belgian however did score 87 goals in 166 Everton games.

The two Manchester clubs are the only teams left in the Premier League without a loss this term.

Mourinho believes his side are now demonstrating a killer instinct they lacked last season, having averaged three goals per game so far in the Premier League - an improvement on their 1.42 goal ratio in his first campaign in charge.

"They understand that from time to time when you move from certain areas, and certain eras as well, you have to change things and I think Mourinho has changed over the years because his management style was demanding, asking for full control".

I think this Premier League is much more defensive-minded, and much more hard.

Last Thursday, Everton in Bergamo started in the group stage of LE against Atalanta, who lost with a score of 3: 0.

It's not just about the striker, said Mourinho. "It is the most hard country in which to win the title".

"So it's not just the striker".

"But you are playing against other teams whose managers are in the third or second or fourth or fifth seasons".

I think that Romelu has a better team than Zlatan had.

"I think the stadium will show him the respect that he deserves, I hope, before the match and after the match".

Mourinho refused to enter into any debate as to how Lukaku and Ibrahimovic compare.

What I did with Marouane is what I do normally with every player, he said. I think it's very stupid to compare the incomparable. When players are so different, there is no point in comparing.

So life goes on, and that's the way I did it last season with Fellaini.
