Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo remained confident of victory in the Singapore Grand Prix despite the Red Bull duo missing out on pole position in Saturday's qualifying.

The night race, which takes place on the Marina Bay Street Circuit, will continue as part of the Championship as one of the most attractive and spectacular races, the organisers said on the official F1 website, reports Efe.

"Singapore is truly an iconic race on our schedule".

"The first ever night race in this sport is one of the most thrilling events of the year", he added. Calvin Harris, Ariana Grande and Seal are on the bill this year.

Trade and industry minister S Iswaran said the move from the Bernie Ecclestone era held up the talks which have now concluded successfully.

It has also contributed S$1.4 billion in tourism receipts to Singapore over the past decade and drawn over 450,000 global visitors, including projected arrivals for this year's race, according to the Singapore Tourism Board.

Formula One Chief Executive Chase Carey described the race as a "signature" event.

SINGAPORE has secured a deal with Formula One to keep its grand prix on the calendar until 2021.

In 2015, the 36-year-old did not even finish the race, but in 2014, he managed to score a solid fifth place, which is the Brazilian's best result at the Singapore Grand Prix so far in his career.

From next year, Singapore will be the sole stop that Formula One makes in Southeast Asia, as next month's Malaysian Grand Prix is to be the last.

While neither side divulged terms of the new deal, Iswaran said Singapore's costs had fallen to S$135 million (US$100 million) despite inflation over the last 10 years.

"Beyond that the tipping point comes down to a basic analysis of where is the value proposition, can we sustain this going forward and that's what a lot of the commercial terms were about".
