Conversations, particularly group chats, often get clogged up with silly multimedia attachments you'll never look at again, which can eat into your handset's storage.

You can get rid of all of the video messages in a conversation, for instance, but keep everything else. WhatsApp for iOS has had granular storage support for years now.

"WhatsApp is finally testing the Delete for Everyone feature: the server finally works and it successfully recalls the message".

WhatsApp's Storage Usage screen is a handy tool to see which individual/ group chat is hoarding the most storage space, and to delete the content of that chat in order to make room during storage constraints.

The number of text messages, contacts, locations (without the file size), images, GIFs, video messages, audio messages, and documents (with file size).

Once you select the chat you want to clear, there will be a "Manage messages" option at the bottom of the screen.

This feature gives you a better control over how various conversations impact your storage. Up to now, those using the stable version of the Facebook-owned chat app can either delete an entire conversation, including the photos and videos attached to it or delete multiple messages by selecting the ones you want to delete, which will also include media files attached to it. Stay tuned with us form ore updates from WhatsApp!

Rumours of the feature first began in February, when reports suggested the messaging app was testing a feature to delete messages mistakenly sent to users in its beta version.

WABetainfo didn't indicate how long the beta would run and when the feature will be available publicly, but we're certain many users will appreciate it once it's added to WhatsApp official updates.

To use this feature on Android, you need to be on the latest beta - v2.17.340.
