Hurricane Jose to Impact Jersey Shore, Delaware

"Any deviation to the left of the NHC forecast track would increase the likelihood and magnitude of impacts along the coast from Long Island to southern New England", the center said in its forecast discussion.

There is also a risk of minor coastal flooding with some moderate tidal flooding Tuesday evening and beach erosion. That could result in road closures and cause widespread flooding of parking lots, parks, lawns and homes and businesses with basements near the waterfront.

The National Hurricane Center in Miami says Jose's top winds have decreased to about 70 miles per hour (110 kph) Tuesday night, and it's expected to weaken more during the next two days. Hurricane-force winds extend up to 60 miles from the center and tropical-storm-force winds about 310 miles.


Expecting 1 to 3 inches across Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard with up to 5 inches across Nantucket.

In Manasquan, New Jersey, residents were preparing on Monday for floods.

State officials have set up a storm response command post in Suffolk County. The storm was about 230 miles southeast of New York City early Tuesday afternoon is expected to pass about 100 miles off the coast of eastern LI.
