North Korea confirms another medium-range ballistic missile drill

Military analysts believe that if the United States made a pre-emptive strike on the North Korea, first of all first strike would be unlikely to eliminate all of North Korea's conventional and nuclear weapons including chemical or biological ones.

The test "has demonstrated yet again the DPRK's blatant disregard of the grave concerns of the global community", the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said in a statement.

Tillerson had called for more action by China and Russian Federation after North Korea's latest missile launch early on September 15, which South Korea and Japan said flew far enough to reach the U.S. Pacific territory of Guam, although it was not aimed at Guam and fell into the Pacific Ocean after flying over Japan's northern island of Hokkaido.

On Monday, U.S. Secretary of Defense James Mattis said that the United States has a military option for dealing with North Korea that would not put Seoul at grave risk. "We see the communist regime is at its final stage of developing an ICBM", Maj.

The U.S. military has described the exercises as training for readiness "to fight tonight" against North Korea if needed.

The North has confirmed the missile as an intermediate range Hwasong-12, the same model launched over Japan on August 29. On Sept. 5, the North conducted its sixth and largest underground atomic detonation.

The exercise was conducted in response to North Korea's launch on Friday of an intermediate-range missile over Japan, its second such launch in under a month.

"In addition to cutting off bilateral ties, I urge your government to support expelling the DPRK from the United Nations", the letter said. Both missiles flew over the Oshima Peninsula, where Hakodate is located, and Erimomisaki cape before falling into the Pacific.

We have tentatively concluded that the latest missile fired was the Hwasong-12, an IRBM, and that the North has IRBM capacities.

As tensions continue to ratchet up with North Korea, CNN has learned that the USA is considering shooting down a North Korean ballistic missile even if it does not directly threaten the USA or its allies.

"We called on our United States partners and others to implement political and diplomatic solutions that are provided for in the resolution", Nebenzia told reporters after the Security Council meeting.

Last summer, Egypt intercepted a North Korean ship carrying 30,000 PG-7 rocket-propelled grenades and other weapons parts, the report said. He ordered officials to analyse and prepare for possible new North Korean threats, including electromagnetic pulse and biochemical attacks.

"The Security Council also emphasized the vital importance of North Korea immediately showing honest commitment to denuclearization through concrete action and stressed the importance of working to reduce tension on the Korean Peinsula", said Tekeda Alemu, President of the Security Council. The North accuses the United States, which has 28,500 troops in South Korea, of planning to invade and regularly threatens to destroy it and its Asian allies.
