Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Juan Mata were the three starting players and all impressed midweek with Rashford and Martial scoring three between them and Mata the focal point of the attack until his withdrawl at halftime, due to the game being well and truly won.

Now, Jose Mourinho has given his piece of mind as to why Martial has been playing this well. "How many times has that happened?"

"It's good and I'll try to help him score more and more goals and (spend) a long time here".

"No one. Nobody deserves to be on the bench".

Earlier this week, anti-discrimination organisation Kick It Out wrote to United, urging them to stop fans from singing a chant that alludes to the size of Romelu Lukaku's manhood, on the basis that it reinforces racist stereotypes.

"I am very pleased with his attitude overall".

José Mourinho played out a somewhat experimental team which included teenager Axel Tuanzebe; Scott McTimonay and Demetri Mitchell were amongst the bench.

Groin and foot injuries affected the number of appearances he made last season but Jose Mourinho was also critical of the 22-year-old last season even when he was fit. Not just on his will, his desire to do it, but being effective on that. "But again it is a great opportunity for other players to play, and I trust them all".

Martial starred for United as the Premier League outfit easily saw off Burton in last nights EFL Cup encounter.

Mourinho was full of praise for Southampton, who were defeated in February's League Cup final to earn Mourinho's first major trophy as United manager.

They will, however, be without Paul Pogba for the second straight league match.

"He has to work".

"If you just want one word - happiness".

"Where the connection between the players the fans, and the team looks stronger and stronger".

"He played so well, not just in terms of goals, although his second goal was fantastic, but also with the way he kept the ball, how he could not lose the ball and fighting", Guardiola said.

Pellegrini's side sit ninth in the Premier League table after five games and they appear to have come through a hard period, yet the last team they will want to face now is United.

Daley Blind - Luke Shaw played for 45 minutes, but as of now, the race to be the left-back is between Blind and Young.
