The Blast got ahold of St. Petersburg Police Department reports and say that at first a woman called 911 after reportedly seeing Carter "engaging in drug activity".

Police rushed to Aaron Carter's house in Florida this week after neighbors reported "erratic behavior" from the singer.

Cops noted the celeb "does have a lot of prescription meds in his home" but ultimately did not feel like he met the criteria to be involuntarily institutionalized under the Baker Act.

When police arrived at the scene, Carter purportedly "threatened to harm family and others" and that told them he was going to take his own life by "mixing Xanax, Clonopin [sic], and "Dusters".

His rep, Steve Honig, told us, "Aaron has chose to enter a facility to improve his health and work on his overall wellness".

They added, "He is grateful for the support and love from his fans and looks forward to coming back stronger than ever before".

The Crush On You singer also was arrested in July in Georgia for investigation of driving under the influence and marijuana possession. Aaron Carter has made a decision to check himself into a rehab center, his rep confirms to Us Weekly.
