This means the camera is of sufficient quality for its image to be used in Street View, taking the imaging service to places Google has never been before.

Google Street View is a great way to explore a new area and plan out vacations or a big move before you hit the road.

Called the "Street View Ready" program, the initiative aims to give citizens the power to capture and submit their own high quality Street View images - whether they're walking, biking, driving or even horseback riding - by allowing them to purchase and use certain approved third-party cameras.

The 8K 360 camera captures images at up to five frames per second, with built-in real-time image stabilization.

Google will make it possible to control the Insta360 Pro from directly within the Street View app, and will also be allowing device to capture photos and videos and upload them from the official Insta360 Stitcher software.

The camera retails for $3,499, and it's the only hardware now "Street View ready"-certified by Google".

Google Street View product manager Charles Armstrong said: "When Google Street View kicked off in 2007, high-quality 360 photography was only available to those with the resources and know-how to build their own cameras". To attach Global Positioning System to captured imaging data automatically, the 360-degree view leading camera contains an optionally bundled USB accessory. To help curious people, Google has a special plan "Street View camera loan program" under which it will contribute 50 Insta360 cameras to individuals, Photographers, organizations, and travelers that are inspired to contribute 360 view images and videos to the company. "Now, thanks to the advances of companies like Insta360, anyone can create immersive 360-degree experiences and contribute them to Street View's extensive map of the world". The catch is that there is only one supported camera right now and it is the Insta360 Pro.
