Leopard Spotted in Maruti Suzuki Plant in Manesar, Search On

The plant area has been cordoned off and a search operation is on to catch the animal, however, they are yet to trace a Leopard. After the news broke out, police and forest authorities rushed to Maruti Suzuki's plant and cordoned off the area. An official said that special teams have been formed to nab the wild cat.

India's biggest auto maker Maruti on Thursday halted production at one of its plants near the national capital after a leopard was spotted on the premises, China's Xinhua news agency reported.

A senior state forest department official said that since the plant has many huge machines, the leopard may have been hiding under one of those machines.

Reports say that the leopard entered from the engine department of the factory. "We will try to rescue it and release it in the forests", said another wildlife official.

Gurgaon: A leopard was spotted early this morning in the factory near Delhi of India's biggest carmaker Maruti Suzuki.

According to reports, the feline entered the premises of Suzuki Powertrain India Limited in sector 8 (Phase 1) of Tau Devilal Industrial Model Township (IMT) in Manesar on the Delhi-Jaipur-Mumbai national highway.

Maruti Suzuki, a joint venture between Maruti and Japan's Suzuki Motor Corporation, has more than a 50 per cent share of India's booming auto market.
