3-year-old seriously hurt in Colebrook crash

A Catskill man was charged with driving under the influence following a suspected drunken-driving accident Thursday night that left a 2-year-old girl in critical condition, according to CT state police.

Frank Rose, 23, of Route 32 in Catskill, N.Y. was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs after failing a field sobriety test, they said. More charges are expected.

Troopers say that one vehicle was traveling eastbound on Route 44 near the intersection of Rockhall Road while another vehicle was traveling westbound.The vehicle traveling westbound lost control of their vehicle swerving into the eastbound lane.


Rose crossed the double yellow line and collided with a vehicle driven by 25-year-old Jennifer Martinez of Bristol, according to state police.

The driver and a 5-year-old passenger sitting in the right rear seat were taken to Waterbury Hospital for minor injuries, while the 2-year-old passenger sitting in the left rear seat was taken to Connecticut Children's Medical Center for serious injuries, the summary said. She was in critical condition, state police said. Two girls were passengers in Martinez's vehicle in the back seat - a 2-year-old and a 5-year-old.

Both children had been strapped into auto seats, police said. Anyone with information regarding this accident is asked to contact Troop B, Trooper Figueiral #1123 at 860-626-1820.
