In a setback to BJP in Karnataka, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has filed a case against Karnataka BJP chief B S Yeddyurappa and Union Minister H N Ananth Kumar.

The leaders could be heard talking about bribing the top leadership of the saffron party, sources told ANI.

The issue had blunted the state BJP's efforts to corner Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah's alleged role in bankrolling its party high command with kickbacks from big ticket projects like the proposed-now scrapped-Rs1,791 crore steel flyover project in Bengaluru.

C M Dhananjaya, chairman of KPCC's legal cell, had filed a complaint in February this year over the conversation about the payment made to the BJP central leadership in crores. "The truth will come out then", said Ananth Kumar. Yeddyurappa and Kumar were also allegedly caught on mic saying that they had given money to the BJP leaders in the past but had never maintained a diary. From day one, I and Yeddyurappa have been urging that if you want to put forth the conversation, please put forth the full conversation. Ironically, the Congress high command has made similar allegations against the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the centre.

Yeddyurappa had said that the ACB is doing it on goal and added that the bureau has become an agent of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Cases were filed against the two BJP leaders under various sections in the cyber crime police department. The city police, however, is reportedly waiting for clearance of the Director-General of Police, RK Dutta, to move the case from cybercrime to the Anti-Corruption Bureau.

"The case is being investigated on a fast-track mode just because we are political opponents".
