Spike Lee has dug into his cinematic past - to his first full-length fiction joint, in fact - for this initial foray into TV courtesy of Netflix. Amazon distributed Lee's most recent feature film, "Chi-Raq", in 2015.

Netflix has released the official trailer for Spike Lee's upcoming Netflix series She's Gotta Have It, a contemporary update of his groundbreaking 1986 indie film.

The trailer features a glimpse of Spike as the original Mars Blackmon before introducing his new Nola Darling and her three lovers. But there's a almost unnoticeable adjustment there - the new Netflix trailer dubs Lee when he says "film" with the word "show". "As a sex-positive, polyamorous pansexual", Nola begins, "monogamy never even seemed like a remote possibility".

Who is Nola Darling?

Cleo Anthony plays the model, Greer Childs, Lyriq Bent plays the overprotective investment banker, Jamie Overstreet, and Anthony Ramos plays the sneakerhead, Mars Blackmon. Nola is aggressive, progressive, very sexual, and open to all kinds of relationships. Tonya Lewis Lee is Executive Producer. Barry Michael Cooper and Lynn Nottage are also producers.

"I'm not a freak, I'm not a sex addict, and I'm damn sure nobody's property", she declares at the end of the trailer.

She's Gotta Have It premieres on Thanksgiving Day, and is directed entirely by Spike Lee.
