Nubia Z17S launched in China: Price, specs and more

ZTE's offshoot brand Nubia launched two new phones, the Nubia Z17S and the Nubia Z17 miniS in China on Thursday.

The Z17S boasts of a 12MP + 23MP dual-rear camera with f/1.8 aperture, 0.03 second dual pixel focus, 2x optical zoom and background blur.

The smartphone is fueled by 2.45GHz octa-core Snapdragon 835 64-bit 10nm processor coupled with the Adreno 540 GPU.

One change that nubia made in the Z17S, compared to the the Z17 is the cameras. On the camera front, the Nubia Z17 miniS comes with a 13-megapixel + 13-megapixel camera combo wherein one shoots in colour and the other in monochrome, alongside a 16-megapixel + 5-megapixel camera combo on the front.

Other details pertaining to the flagship include a TAS2555 smart amplifier with 7.1 channel DTS audio, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, and Wi-Fi 802.11ac connectivity, as well as the company's proprietary Nubia UI 5.1 Android skin based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

ZTE Nubia Z17 miniS specifications: The dual SIM supporting smartphone is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 653 SoC matched with a 6 GB RAM.

In addition to pushing the envelope in the bezel-reducing department, with a narrow "forehead" and "chin", the 5.73-inch Nubia Z17S jumps on the 2:1 aspect ratio bandwagon as well, sporting a respectable 2040 x 1080 Full HD+ resolution.

The Nubia Z17S with 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage is priced at CNY 2,999 (about Rs. 29,617) in China, while the variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage is priced at CNY 3,999 (about Rs. 39,499).

It is powered by a 3,100mAh non-removable battery which supports 26W fast charging that can charge the phone up to 50% in 25 minutes.

Talking about the design, the Nubia Z17S sports an all metal body with 3D glass finish at the back with Corning Gorilla Glass fitted on both the sides. The device is now available for pre-orders in China and is set to hit the shelves on October 19th, the Chinese OEM said. There's 64GB inbuilt storage, and it supports dual-SIM. It runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat, and comes with the company's custom user interface: Nubia UI 5.1. The camera has dual-tone LED flash and 4K video recording. The 23-megapixel sensor (Sony IMX318) has an aperture of f/2.0. The handset packs a fingerprint sensor embedded in the home button. Connectivity features onboard include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth, USB Type-C port, NFC, and Global Positioning System.
