Shiv Sena leader Pappu Mane's auto mows down 2 girls in Maharashtra

A Shiv Sena leader's vehicle allegedly ran over three girls on their way to school in Maharashtra's Baramati this morning.

Angry locals set the SUV ablaze after, Pappu Mane and his accomplices fled from the spot.

The deceased, identified as Samiksha Vitkar (13) and Divya Pawar (12), were on their way to school when they were mowed down. Two girls, Sameeksha and Divya, aged 12 and 13 respectively, died on the spot after being mowed down by the speeding vehicle which reportedly belongs to Shiv Sena Baramati unit chief Pappu Mane. A police officer from Baramati taluka police station said, "The investigation is still on whether Mane was behind the wheel. According to preliminary information, three girls were walking towards their school when the auto knocked them down".


After the incident, agitated villagers set the auto on fire.

They managed to nab the driver of the auto who was later handed over to police. Local reports suggest that the two girls were attempting to cross the road when they were mowed down by the SUV. He has said that he was not present in the vehicle when the accident took place. "We have summoned him for questioning", he said.

It took almost a couple of hours for police to bring the situation under control.
