While the experience for Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire revolves around the attraction at Downtown Disney at Disneyland Resort, the Coco virtual reality experience allows users to explore the colorful world of the dead that will be seen in the film. An official trailer made its debut today, which you can check out below offering a first look at what to expect, and story details have also been revealed: the rebellion needs you, your family, and your friends for a secret Star Wars mission.

A version of the "Star Wars" virtual-reality experience also will open at Disneyland's Downtown Disney complex on January 5.

A galaxy far, far away needs your help.

The experience was announced to be in development back in August, and was a collaboration between "three boundary-pushing companies in the burgeoning out-of-home VR entertainment sector", according to Curtis Hickman, co-founder and chief creative officer at The VOID. For one thing, Star Wars doesn't really need much in the way of advertising to garner interest from fans, while keeping the VR at the park will ensure each guest gets the same experience. With encouraging words from Mon Mothma, teams will set off in groups of four to capture Imperial intelligence for the rebellion, going undercover as Stormtroopers.

The experience will allow up to four players to go undercover as Stormtroopers and walk around freely on a stage that combines real walls and other physical objects with VR storytelling. "Alongside the pragmatic droid K-2S0, your team must navigate through an enemy facility walking into danger at every turn". The members of the team will have to solve puzzles and fight lava monsters.

Virtual Reality is a growing trend in the entertainment world as of late, as both Pixar's Coco and Disney's Star Wars franchise have chose to take hold of the idea. Here's what Vicki Dobbs Beck, executive in charge ILMxLAB, had to say in a statement.
