Beetlejuice debuted back in 1988 also starring Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis as ghosts who unleashed Beetlejuice in order to get rid of a family now living in their house.

According to the folks over at Deadline, Mike Vukadinovich will rewrite Beetlejuice 2 at Warner Brothers and that's pretty much it, for now.

Both Tim Burton and Michael Keaton are now working on Dumbo and are reportedly very excited to finally work on another Beetlejuice film. Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg are set to produce through their KatzSmith Productions. Based an original screenplay written by Vukadinovich, that film stars Peter Dinklage and Julie Ormond.

Vukadinovich's most recent film work is Rememory, a science-fiction drama that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and was acquired by Lionsgate. It gained a cult following years after. It became so popular that an animated television show was aired for over two years, in which the film's original music composer Danny Elfman returned to retool the theme for the cartoon.

The sequel has been on development since 1990 and it was called Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian but it didn't move since then. So far, there's no release date scheduled for the sequel. From that day on, strangely enough, there has been no mention of any Beetlejuice 2 and we had our tears to cry. There's also no report yet about what the story of the sequel will be about.
