A Suffolk man wanted for an assault on August 12 in Charlottesville has been arrested.

DeAndre Harris crouches as he is beaten by white supremacists in a Charlottesville parking garage in August during a "Unite the Right" rally. He was served the warrant accusing him of unlawful injuring.

Harris, a former special education instructional assistant who sustained a spinal injury and head wound that required 10 stitches, was released on a bond after turning himself in to Charlottesville police.

On Monday, a magistrate in Charlottesville issued a warrant charging Harris with unlawful wounding in the violence at the parking garage.

Photos and video that were widely shared online showed Harris being beaten by a group of men inside a parking garage.

Merritt, who told The Washington Post that the charge against Harris was "clearly retaliatory", said Wednesday that arrangements are being made for Harris to surrender to police.

Three men, Daniel Borden, Alex Ramos and Jacob Goodwin have been charged in connection with the beating.

Court records indicate that Harris, 20, of Suffolk, will make an appearance Friday morning in Charlottesville District Court.
