A grand jury has indicted Tyler Tessier on a murder charge in the slaying of his pregnant girlfriend, court documents say.

Wallen taught at Wilde Lake High School in Columbia.

Police found Wallen Sept. 13 in a freshly-dug grave on farmland in Damascus after she went missing over Labor Day weekend.

Tyler Tessier, 33, of Boyds, was arrested last month and charged with killing Laura Wallen, his girlfriend.

Days before the body was found, Tessier stood hand-in-hand with Wallen's parents at a news conference, pleading for her to come home.

Tessier previously was charged with murder and two other charges related to Wallen's death and disappearance. Her father, Mark, referred to him as a "monster" and "a liar", and said the family had suspicions that he'd committed the crime. Tessier was involved in a romantic relationship with a second woman.

Prosecutors believe the love triangle between Wallen, Tessier and his fiance was the probable motive behind the killing. According to court documents, Tessier sent messages to them pretending to be Wallen, stating that she was anxious that somebody else was the father.
