A further 10 firefighters are on standby and are attending to flare-ups at the five-star 12 Apostles Hotel. At this stage, I'm not too sure what's happening in the Camps Bay area.

It said buses were assisting with the evacuation.

The Volunteer Wildlife Services also tweeted about the fire.

"I don't know what damage has been caused at the site at this stage, but definitely the fire has burned through that area", he said.

He said it's only the hotel that has been evacuated. "No residences have been evacuated".

He said the fire had started on privately-owned land on the slopes of the mountain, but had since spread to the TMNP and was concentrated between the Camps Bay and Llandudno side of the mountain.

On Thursday night, around 7:15pm, guests and staff at the hotel were asked to evacuate following a fire in the Oudekraal area.

Fire crews are still battling the blaze as high winds make their job all the more hard.

On Friday Lukas Laubscher‚ deputy general manager of the 12 Apostles‚ said the fire was still raging close to the hotel's right wing.

This afternoon, strong winds fanned the flames and they swept back down towards the road.
