Momoa is about to hit the silver screen as Aquaman in Justice League, but back in 2011, he was caught on video at a Comic-Con panel joking that he liked the sci-fi and fantasy genre because "there's so many thing you can do, like rip someone's tongue out of their throat and get away with it, and rape attractive women".

Momoa's comments came at the 2011 Game Of Thrones panel at San Diego Comic Con: "As far as sci-fi and fantasy go as a genre there is so many things you can do... like rape attractive women".

"It's just there's so many things that you can do like rip someone's tongue out of their throat, and get away with it, and rape attractive women, you know?" he said, prompting laughter from the crowd and mixed reactions from his fellow cast members sitting beside him.

The clip in question is from the Game of Thrones Comic-Con panel in 2011. His co-star, Ben Affleck, has also come under fire recently after footage emerged of him groping TV star Hilarie Burton in 2003.

A clip of the incident has resurfaced online in the wake of allegations that Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein sexually harassed and assaulted numerous women over a career of over 20 years.

Momoa will next appear as Aquaman in the upcoming Justice League film.

Metro.co.uk has contacted reps for Momoa for comment.

Emilia Clarke (plays Daenerys Targaryen), Kit Harington (Jon Snow) and Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister) were seen holding their heads in their hands. I love her, but I'm hurting her and she's crying. I'm not a rapist! Caring for my young children is my first priority and I ask the media for privacy at this time, ' Chapman said in a statement.
