Paraguay ensured top spot in Group B with its third win in a row - a 3-1 defeat of Turkey at the D. Y. Patil Stadium here.

New Zealand's campaign at the Under-17 football World Cup in India is over after a 3-1 loss to African champions Mali.

Colombia tamed a hapless United States of America 3-1 at the DY Patil Stadium on Thursday to finish the league with six points like US and Ghana, qualifying as the second team from Group A behind the Africans.

Paraguay took the lead after missing a penalty. Deiber Caicedo got the third goal after Juan Vidal hit the opener for Colombia, cancelled out by George Acosta in the first half itself.

It hadn't begun well for the side, though, as it squandered a penalty kick in the second minute, the culprit being its hero in the last match - Anibal Vega. Giovanni Bogado, Fernando Cardozo and Antonio Galeano were on target to help Paraguay maintain their winning streak in the tournament.

Bouyed by the reprieve, Turkey settled down after the initial hesitancy.

Turkey were never in control of the game right from the kickoff as the Latin American side kept on pressing in front of the goal.

New Zealand reduced the margin, much against the run of play, through Charles Spragg in the 72 minute but Lassana Ndiaye again made it a two-goal advantage for Mali with a strike in the 82 minute. A free-kick. taken from a few meters away from the box, curled enough to keep away from diving Turkey goalkeeper.

Within minutes, Paraguay were 2-0 up after a deft finish by Fernando Cardozo. The left winger ran down the flank and kept a flawless ball for Cardozo who calmly found the back of the net.

With no goals to show as reward for efforts in the first half, the heat was on Turkey in the second session.
