Quarterback Marcus Mariota Could Play Against the Colts

Whether he plays Monday night against the Indianapolis Colts will depend on how much Mariota can move around.

Mariota, inactive on Sunday in Miami because of a hamstring injury, still hasn't done a full sprint, according to Mularkey.

Mariota's mobility is one of the greatest strengths of his game and a significant factor in the Titans' offense.

"I feel a lot better", Mariota said.

"We'll have the injury report out (Saturday), for the game", Mularkey said.

The quarterback himself has a quick answer on how good he feels his chances really are.

"He's got to be able to move around pretty good to be able to play, and not put himself in a position where he is going to reinjure himself", Mularkey told reporters Wednesday. "He's got to show that by the end of the week".

The Titans are hoping Mariota will be able to return to action against the Colts on Monday night at Nissan Stadium. If he doesn't play, they'd go with Matt Cassel again.

Cassel was 21 of 32 for 141 yards in the game against the Dolphins.

On the season, Mariota has completed 66-of-110 passes for 792 yards, with three touchdowns and three interceptions.

Mariota was a limited participant in two practice sessions this week and he has made a lot of progress in his recovery since he sustained the injury in the third quarter of their week four game against the Houston Texans on Oct.1. Mariota and Mularkey said the quarterback is doing more in practice this week. "It's just taking it one day at a time and hopefully I'll be ready to go".

"First, Mariota has to continue improving each day. Hopefully towards the end of the week I'll get more on my plate and hopefully I'll feel comfortable to try and play on Monday".
