Sadie was playing with two of her siblings when she fell through a lid covering a six-foot deep trap for cooking grease outside of Bruster's Real Ice Cream in Auburn, Alabama on Saturday, police who reviewed video of the incident said.

A crowdfunding site dedicated to Sadie's funeral expenses has so far managed to raise close to $9,000.

Authorities later pronounced her dead at 1:28 p.m., succumbing to drowning injuries. The death is being ruled an accident.

"It was determined that the child had fallen into a tank containing liquid", the spokesperson said.

Upon their arrival, EAMC EMS rushed the child to East Alabama Medical Center.

Auburn police will continue to investigate the death, but it appears to be accidental.
