Melissa Etheridge looks really. this mugshot from her pot arrest on the US-Canadian border.

The "Come to My Window" singer was smiling from ear-to-ear in her mugshot after being stopped by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol on August 17, TMZ reported.

The star - who has always been vocal in her endorsement of medical marijuana usage - reportedly stated that she used the substance to manage pain from her bout with breast cancer.

After using medical marijuana while undergoing chemotherapy after her 2004 breast cancer diagnosis, the musician has regularly advocated for the legalization of weed as a holistic alternative to pharmaceuticals. That's legal in Cali, where she lives, but in's still a no-no. According to the outlet, she pleaded not guilty.

She even admitted that she and her wife, Linda Wallem, regularly share joints with her two older kids, 20-year-old Bailey and 18-year-old Beckett. "And it brings you much closer".

Since her quotes made the rounds online, Etheridge said she's received flak for her parenting style and would hope the attention would be directed to a more important issue.
