The run-up to Deepawali, the festival of lights, mirth, and celebration has not been really kind to producer/director Sanjay Leela Bhansali as his forthcoming film Padmavati is getting stuck into one controversy after another.

The vandals destroyed a Padmavati rangoli which was made in about 48 hours! After the trailer of the film released, a lot of people were left wondering what inspired Bhansali to create something as grand as the film. The film stars an nearly similar cast that includes Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone alongside new entrant the Bhansali camp, Shahid Kapoor. A Hindu group called Shri Rajput Karni Sena has been against the making of Padmavati since the very beginning. Bhansali's big release has again seen opposition after a rangoli artist's work was destroyed by goons.

An artist in Gujarat has alleged that a mob had vandalised his rangoli on Deepika Padukone's Padmavati after it took him 48 hours to complete the art. A crowd of 100 people cried JAY SRI RAM AND rubbed out my 48hrs' intense work! Ranveer Singh features as Alauddin Khilji while Shahid Kapoor plays Raja Ratan Singh, Rani Padmini's husband.

The acclaimed filmmaker-composer says an awe-inspiring Vyjayanthimala dancing to the tunes of 'Tumhe Yaad Karte Karte", "Jao Re Jogi Tum Jao Re", "Tadapyeh Dil Raat Ki' and 'Neel Gagan Ki Chaon Mein' was his guide for Deepika Padukone's character in the upcoming magnum opus.

Padmavati's poster has been released four days earlier and is slated to release on 1st December.
