Mindy Cohn opens up about her five-year battle with breast cancer

The TV star chose to take a break from Hollywood and underwent what she called a "siege", a draining series of treatments including a lumpectomy, double mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation. "I couldn't fix it".

"I had to learn that asking for help is not me being weak", she told the magazine.

"She's an fantastic source of everything - of life, of strength, of peace, of beauty ...certainly laughter, still", Fields told GMA co-anchor Robin Roberts, herself a breast cancer survivor.

The Facts of Life actress Mindy Cohn has revealed her secret five-year battle with breast cancer.

After years of battling her breast cancer, Cohn took refuge in a Sharon Springs farm outside NY. Cohn is now planning a trip to climb Machu Picchu in Peru with her two close friends Dr. Brent Ridge and Josh Kilmer-Purcell, who appeared on the reality series "The Fabulous Beekman Boys". Brent Ridge, lifestyle gurus best known for their reality show The Fabulous Beekman Boys.


So she retreated to a farm in upstate NY to battle the disease and recover. "They are my family", she says. "We'll be in each others' lives forever". Because now after five long years, she's cancer free! She's become more active on her Twitter and Instagram.

The cancer continued to come back, despite the efforts of her and her team of doctors.

After taking some time off from acting, Cohn is ready to get back into the biz. "And I'm so ready to get back to working".

"I'm feeling great", she said. I think I'm a good actress, and I have a lot to offer.
