And, of course, the Manhattan's central relationship, which was between a high school girl (Mariel Hemingway) and the much older Allen.

Louis C.K. made headlines last month when it was announced that he had quietly directed his first movie in over 16 years, I Love You, Daddy.

There is no official synopsis available yet, but as you can tell from the trailer C.K. plays a successful and wealthy TV writer who rekindles his relationship with his teenage daughter (Chloë Grace Moretz). But he's horrified when he learns that she's fallen for an aging filmmaker (John Malkovich), who C.K.'s character has long idolized.

I Love You, Daddy premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. Rose Byrne, of Bad Neighbours, and Charlie Day from It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia both star.

"It's an absorbing and intelligent accomplishment", he wrote in his B+ review, "but it's never too keen on answering the hardest questions that it poses". While working on Horace and Pete, he was also directing his first feature film since 2001's Pootie Tang.

He has won several awards for the sitcom and has become one of the biggest stand up comedians in the world. "I Love You, Daddy isn't created to turn non-committal folk into C.K. fans but his unstructured, often meandering artistry - an honest riff on Woody Allen - is a present breath of fresh air".
