It's not full-on gen three yet, but hey: new faces!

First with the Pokemon home screen and then with the leaked Apple Watch advert that also confirmed Gen 3 Pokemon were coming to the game.

Pokemon Go developer Niantic is working on more than just the Gen 3 Halloween event.

"We can confirm that a new EX Raid is happening on October 20, 2017, in sponsored and non sponsored gyms worldwide" wrote Pokemon GO Hub. But taking into consideration that the Halloween event from the last year had been successful, we're sure that Niantic will release a similar event this year too. Mimikyu was actually introduced in Pokemon Sun and Moon. Someone saw within the latest update a reveal in the code that pointed to new Pokémon being added to the game with the newest update.

The ghost types Duskull, Dusclops, Shuppet, Sableye and Banette will lead the charge, while existing spooky Pokémon like Gastly, Cubone, Misdreavus, Houndour will become more commonplace. All we know is what happened last Halloween, with users getting different rewards: double candy and a new Pokémon. It seems that Niantic has taken those criticisms on board as Pokemon GO should offer players plenty of entertainment from now right through until the new year.

"You'll have the opportunity to stock up for your upcoming adventures with special boxes from the in-game shop, featuring items such as Raid Passes and Super Incubators", reads the announcement.

The Pokemon GO Halloween event is scheduled to end on November 2 at 1:00 p.m. PDT / 4:00 p.m. EDT.
