The unbeaten 28-year-old from Hatfield faces a tough test in the third defence of the title he won against Ireland's Andy Lee nearly two years ago, with Lemieux (38-3, 33KOs) fighting in his home city. "I don't just want the dog meat that (unified world champion Gennady) Golovkin has left behind, I want the dog himself".

Lemieux, 28, has lost just three times in 41 fights, the last defeat coming in 2015 when he was stopped in the eighth round by Kazak KO artist Golovkin. Since then Lemieux, one of boxing's most destructive punchers, has won four fights in a row.

David Lemieux is a former IBF world middleweight champion, winning the title vacant against Hassan N'Dam in June 2015. "Saunders is about to get destroyed".

"I have a lot of friends in Canada, and I'll be bringing a lot of supporters over to Canada from the UK. His 0 must go".

Golden Boy Promotions have also confirmed that the fight will be shown live on HBO within the territory of North America. "When he's in that state, watch out".

The fight poses an interesting style match: Saunders' boxing ability against Lemieux's brute power.

Canada's David Lemieux will have an opportunity to regain a middleweight title December 16 after his promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, struck a deal Tuesday for Lemieux to fight England's Billy Joe Saunders in Montreal, the Los Angeles Times learned.

Billy Joe Saunders and David Lemieux have had a social media war of words with eachother, which has added even more spice to an already intriguing affair. "It's a great opportunity for Billy Joe to defend his WBO world title against a big-name opponent", Warren said.

The Hatfield southpaw hopes fighting in North America, live on USA broadcaster HBO, will help him secure a shot at the victor of Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin, who are expected to rematch on May 5.
