Trump Told Widow Soldier Knew 'What He Signed Up For': Rep.

Wilson said she was traveling with Myeshia Johnson, the widow of U.S. Army Sgt.

"President Trump did disrespect my son and my daughter and also me and my husband", Ms Jones-Johnson said.

But Johnson's mother backed Wilson's account.

Trump took to Twitter early Wednesday and disputed the account.

Sanders did not directly address whether Kelly knew that Trump would cite the death of his son in Afghanistan to question whether President Barack Obama had properly honored the war dead. Wilson called Trump's remarks in the phone call insensitive. He spoke of how making such phone calls are a "difficult thing". I don't know what Bush did; I don't know what Obama did.

Later Wednesday, Trump expanded on his denial. "I was not the only one in the auto", she said.

On Monday, Mr Trump said some of his predecessors "didn't do anything" to console relatives of fallen soldiers, drawing widespread criticism. "I had a very nice conversation with the wife, sounded like a lovely woman. He spends too much time on stuff that doesn't have to do with running this country", Wilson said.

Trump on Wednesday declared on Twitter: "Democrat Congresswoman totally fabricated what I said to the wife of a soldier who died in action (and I have proof). The only thing she said when it was time to hang up was thank you, bye-bye", she said on CNN. Wilson told MSNBC on Wednesday that Johnson's widow was shaken by the exchange.

Trump has said very little about the Niger episode. It was frightful. It was insensitive. Tammy Duckworth of IL said she had "utter disgust" for the way Trump has politicized his interactions with Gold Star soldiers.

She said: "This gentleman has a brain disorder, and he needs to be checked out".

Jones-Johnson, speaking to The Post via Facebook Messenger, declined to elaborate.

Rep. Frederica Wilson, D-Fla., recounted details of Trump's call with Sgt.

A White House spokeswoman says Chief of Staff John Kelly is "disgusted" that dealing with military deaths has become "politicized".

Trump later accused Wilson of fabricating the conversation, but simultaneous to that, his own White House press officials were not disputing the quotes, but saying he was taken "out of context".

Sgt. La David Johnson was one of four American military personnel killed almost two weeks ago whose families had not heard from Trump until Tuesday.

When he was pressed by a journalist who said Obama had made calls to fallen soldiers, Trump backtracked but not fully. Obama administration officials strongly deny that. La David Johnson, 25, of Miami Gardens, Florida, sooner.

He was a driver assigned to 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) based in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

"I stand firmly by my original account of his conversation with Myeshia Johnson, the widow of Sgt".

"She was just crying". The obituary lists his parents as Samara Johnson and Richard and Cowanda Johnson.

Trump has accused players who kneel for the anthem of disrespecting the military, and has called for the National Football League to censure the protests at rallies and in tweets.
