J&K: Police Officer Shot Dead by Terrorists in Tral

Anantnag: A special police officer (SPO) was shot dead by suspected militants on Wednesday evening in Gutroo village on the outskirts of Tral town.

Kohli was a resident of Gutroo Satoora Village in Tral and was now posted at Police post Aripal tehsil in Tral sub division.

The incident took place at about 5:30 PM.

He said that the terrorists escaped from the scene after killing the police official.


Eye witnesses said that forces barged into the houses of active hizb commander Umar Fayaz Urf Hammad Khan, in Seer village, 7 kilometres from sub district headquarter Tral. "How and where he was shot will get clear only after the police team reaches there", the official said.

In the incident Haleem suffered critical bullet wounds and was shifted to nearby hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead. The officer was shot dead at his residence.

Earlier on Monday, terrorists had gunned down a former sarpanch in Shopian.
