Shiv Sena's Uddhav Thackeray on Friday discussed issue of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) strike with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and state Transport Minister Diwakar Raote. The MSRTC staff started the indefinite strike on Tuesday, demanding their salaries be revised according to the recommendations of the seventh pay commission.

After that the State Government submitted undertaking before the court that it was ready to constitute a high-power committee, which will submit report within three weeks.

The court ordered the employees to resume their work after the strike had hit the transport services badly across the state.

"The government can not remain a mute spectator on the strike". The petitioner had alleged that unions and employees had planned the strike well before Diwali to take undue advantage of the festive season.

The transport corporation's lawyer further said that while the central government was funding a bullet train and many other development projects, the state government was hesitating to support the MSRTC.

She added that while the MSRTC employees' demands were legitimate, the manner in which they went on strike just before the festive season was not appropriate.

The HC had also observed that the Maharashtra government was taking no concrete steps to end the strike.
