Dodgers fans want Vin Scully back for the World Series

Legendary Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully, the voice of the Dodgers for 67 years who retired last season at the age of 89, was unable to make the trip to Chicago. However, he apparently decided that he wasn't going to let the fact that he's 90 years old keep him from watching his Dodgers clinch their first World Series berth in a generation.

In a statement to the Orange County Register, the Hall of Fame broadcaster said, "I honestly don't feel I belong there and I would not want anyone to think I was eager for a spotlight". Scully has appeared at a few Dodgers games as a fan - including in the postseason - but he tries to even avoid crossing the line with that. The Dodgers' World Series opponent - either the New York Yankees or the Houston Astros - has yet to be determined.

"Neither Vin Scully nor Sandy Koufax will be returning to action for the World Series". The most affordable tickets for Game 2 were priced at $840.

- Several petitions have gone up online asking for Vin Scully in the broadcast booth for the world Series, but Scully himself is not signing on.
