Coach Erik Spoelstra revealed that center Hassan Whiteside is dealing with a bone bruise in his left knee that kept him out of Friday's practice and will also keep him out of Saturday's home opener against the Indiana Pacers.

Miami Heat's Hassan Whiteside makes a plea to an official after he was called for goaltending against the Orlando Magic. The 20-year-old played just six minutes in the season opener where he didn't record a single point or rebound in his limited action on the floor. He said he hit the same spot earlier against the Atlanta Hawks, and that is what made it really painful. "We let 'em get a couple easy in transition".

"I'm not that anxious", he said. However, he went through the non-contact workout and is expected to play in the game.

"I could feel it in the game", Whiteside said. Last year, the Heat dealt with numerous injuries, but they still managed to finish with a.500 record and be one of the best teams in the league in the second half of the season.

This season, it doesn't seem that things will be different as Miami already lost two players to an injury.

Whiteside also added that being injured is frustrating, but he is thankful that it's nothing worse. "I'm looking at guys like my old teammate, Jeremy Lin, and what happened with Gordon [Hayward] is unfortunate".

Miami started 7-footer Kelly Olynyk alongside Whiteside in Wednesday's opener at power forward and could turn to Olynyk to start at center.

Beside the guard, the Heat will also be without#Hassan Whiteside as the big man is dealing with knee issues.

Whiteside was all over the place in Wednesday's opener, posting 26 points on 11-for-18 shooting from the field and bringing down 22 rebounds.

Dion Waiters' left ankle isn't the only problem for the Miami Heat these days.

James Johnson, Justise Winslow, rookie Bam Adebayo, captain Udonis Haslem, Jordan Mickey, Okaro White and A.J. Hammons are other options in the power rotation.

"Like every day, no excuses, the next guy will step in", Heat point guard Goran Dragic said.
