A 31-year-old man allegedly killed his co-worker, chopped his body and hid it in a refrigerator after he suspected him of having an affair with his wife in south Delhi's Mehrauli.

Badal has told his interrogators that he dealt the fatal blow in a moment of rage when Joshi said something objectionable about his wife but the police are still probing it. "The investigating team realised that Singra possessed a different identity along with supporting documents that he had used to misguide the police team".

On the night of October 8, Joshi and Badal bought alcohol together and visited the latter's rented home to consume it. "Joshi had a few drinks and was smoking a cigarette when Badal struck him with a cleaver from behind".

Joshi had been missing since October 9 and his body was recovered on October 15. Therefore, he planned to kill him.

"He had resolved to kill him because he suspected something was going on between his wife and Vipin". The man has been arrested, police said.

He had applied for leave at his workplace before killing Joshi so that no one suspects him of killing Joshi, a senior police official said yesterday.

Police said Badal Mandal, 33, from Odisha, murdered Vipin Joshi, 30, chopped his body into three parts and stuffed them inside a fridge. According to police, the accused - identified as Badal Mandal, alias Swapan Singro - was arrested from a relative's house in Rourkela.

"When the police team and Joshi's family member arrived at Mandal's residence, they found the door locked from outside and foul smell emanating from the house".

By the time the police reached the place after tracing Mandal's mobile phone location, he had already left Kolkata and gone to a relative's place in the neighbouring state of Odisha.

The police said that Badal then dumped the pieces in the fridge and later went to get polybags to stuff them in.
