White Nationalist Richard Spencer Asks to Speak at University of MI

The University of MI confirmed Tuesday morning that white supremacist and actual human garbage Richard Spencer wants to speak at the campus. Spencer's group has filed a lawsuit seeking to have that blockage overturned.

Several public universities denied his requests in the days after he led an August torchlight march through the University of Virginia. Fitzgerald says a representative of Spencer's National Policy Institute indicated there was flexibility with the speaking date.

Spencer's National Policy Institute recently was denied a request to speak at Michigan State University and has since sued the university in federal court.

Spencer spoke at the rally, which later turned violent, with clashes between the white nationalists and counter protesters.

The spokesperson says the university will "carefully review the request", taking safety and security into consideration. "No decisions have been made". But the university is clearly preparing the campus community.
