Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi is all set for the premiere of his first Hindi direction, "Beyond the Clouds".

India's official entry for the Oscars, "Newton", and the highest grosser till date in the country, "Baahubali 2: The Conclusion", are among the 26 films selected for the Indian Panorama Section of the 48th International Film Festival of India (IFFI).

Marathi film "Kaasav", which won the Best Feature Film Award at the 64th National Film Awards, was given a direct entry into the list, it said.

However, what is peculiar among all this is that the switch was made without the consultancy of the 13-member jury. "Nude" deals with the struggle of a woman as she survives in a city like Mumbai as a nude model, while Sasidharan's film depicts the intimidating environment a woman has to traverse when she steps out of her comfort zone. The email did not give any explanation for removing the two films from the final list. "I sincerely hope the ministry reconsiders this move and upholds the decision of the jury". "They (the jury) had anticipated that, given the current scenario, Nude, despite being an aestheticallymade film, might not pass muster". The film was all set to screen at the festival but has now been replaced as per the list released by Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. Malayalam film S Durga, screened at the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, is a dark social commentary that is narrated in an engaging manner. "My guess is that the people who took this decision did not bother watching either of the two films, because had they done so, they would have realised that Nude has no intention to titillate, while S Durga is a thriller, and there's nothing sexy about it". The first time it was a retrospective of my earlier films and this time, it's for "Beyond The Clouds".

The 13-member jury is headed by Sujoy Ghosh and also includes Rahul Rawail, Nishikant Kamat, Nikkhil Advani, Apurva Asrani, Ruchi Narain amongst others. They watched 153 films over three weeks to narrow down on 21 (excluding the five mainstream films) movies, with five to six films unanimously loved by all, including the two disputed ones.
