Last week, the industry and internet alike were sent into a frenzy following Meek Mill's sentencing of 2-4 years in prison following multiple probation violations.

Sports Illustrated obtained a copy of 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin's letter to Judge Genece Brinkley written prior to Meek's controversial sentencing.

While acknowledging Meek has made mistakes, Rubin wrote that the rapper has made real growth as a person over the four years he has known him. He continued, "Please know that I am devoted to his future and to making sure he accomplishes the goals that you have set forth for him. I truly believe that such a sentence would destroy his future".

A new Change.org petition is calling for a review of the recent sentence that has thrown Meek Mill in state prison for at least two years.

The fight for Meek Mill's freedom continues. "We stand for justice", reads one flyer, which calls for a crowd to gather at the Criminal Justice Center in Philadelphia. Sixers legend Julius Erving as well as current Eagles players Malcolm Jenkins and Vinny Curry will be there.

Fellow rapper and Philly native Black Thought of the Roots has shown his support of the rally, sharing the news on social media.
