Man shot dead in Delhi court, cop suspended (Second Lead)

The victim, an accused who was being brought from Court No. 213, was shot at by a juvenile assailant who immediately surrendered to the authorities.

Vinod, 31, was shot dead while being taken back to the Tihar Jail.

The gunman has been arrested at the Rohini court complex in northwest Delhi.The victim, so far identified by only his first name, Vinod, was killed while he was leaving the court after a hearing.

A criminal opened fire near the canteen in the Rohini court complex killing an undertrial who was being taken back after being produced in court.

Rohini Bar Association President Mahavir Sharma told IANS that no entry pass was needed for anyone to enter the court premises.


It was also observed by lawyers that the crime scene was poorly manned.

Though Vinod was rushed to a hospital, he was declared dead by doctors. He said police had not ascertained the reason behind the murder.

In 2004, the Delhi Polices Special Cell had arrested 10 men, suspected to be affiliated to Neeraj Bawana-Naveen Baali gang who had come as part of a plan to carry out a shootout at the Rohini Courts.

The DCP said that Vinod, a Mangolpuri resident jailed in connection with a seven-year-old cheating case, was fatally shot in a corridor near the court canteen around 11.20 a.m.
