Clubbing pleas together: Nawaz Sharif moves IHC against NAB court ruling

On November 8, the accountability court had rejected the application filed by Sharif for clubbing together the references against him and his family, which meant that the Sharif family will stand three separate trials.

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Tuesday moved Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the Accountability Court's orders to club together three corruption references filed against him. The court that the accounts possess $3992, 4272 Euros, 207 pounds and Rs382,381 in the four accounts respectively.

The NAB DPG also observed that all investigation officers had recorded their statements in all three corruption references, and had completed all possible proceedings against Sharif's sons.

The court was further informed that both brother did have any property in areas handled by the Lahore Development Authority and Defence Housing Authority.

"We are still waiting for a reply from Bahria and Deputy Commissioner Lahore", said NAB officers.

The Islamabad High Court had earlier asked the Accountability Court to review Nawaz Sharif's application.

The NAB prosecutor today presented implementation report on declaring them proclaimed offenders.


The court has already issued non-bailable arrest warrants against the two brothers.

The 30-day deadline expired on November 11.

During the Flagship Investment Limited reference hearing, the statement of Investigating Officer Muhammad Kamran was documented wherein he stated that terming Hasan and Hussain Nawaz "proclaimed offenders" should be decided by the judges.

The NAB DPG asserted that the body had done its due diligence in attempting to get the two suspects to cooperate with the court, and now requested their properties be seized as they continued to avoid court.

The court had also ordered authorities concerned to initiate proceedings under Section 87 (proclamation for person absconding) of the Criminal Procedure Code.

Summons of the accused were also pasted on the walls of their house and court, he added.
