"You are Agent 47, the world's ultimate assassin". Not only is Io Interactive's working on two separate Hitman projects, there's even a TV series in the works. Granted, they both kind of missed the mark when it came to the whole "Silent Assassin" motif, instead offering up someone who'd likely get a "Serial Killer" rating upon mission completion, but I firmly believe those flicks were much closer to the spirit of their respective source material than, say, the Resident Evil movies. After two feature films, Hitman and Hitman: Agent 47, failed to blow up at the box office, it now looks like the popular video game property is getting a TV adaptation. The whole appeal of the Hitman games is each level is a wicked little puzzle box where the prize is figuring out how to pull off the flawless murder, and that's been hard to translate to the movies. Regardless, we're going to have to wait until 2019 in order to find out. The goal is, apparently, to make Hitman a "flagship" series for the streaming service.

Hulu has picked up a Hitman series adaptation, teaming up with Fox 21 and John Wick creator Derek Kolstad to adapt the best-selling video game from IO Interactive. Fox 21 and Hulu have revealed in an exclusive to Deadline that the new series is green-lit and is officially in the works. Kolstad will also serve as one of the show's executive producers.

Hollywood seems adamant on tapping into the fanbases of video games, even at the risk of alienating people who didn't remember there was a 2007 Hitman starring Timothy Olyphant (guilty). Hitman: Agent 47 fared better with Friend's portrayal, who gave 47 just enough depth and dry wit to be likeable, but without making him a hero. Hopefully, third time will be the charm for this franchise when it comes to live-action, as Agent 47 is a great character and the concept has a lot of potential if executed properly. We will keep you updated on the latest developments.
