Contract negotiations between Liverpool and Can have not progressed, and it's looking increasingly likely that the former Bayer Leverkusen man will move on when his deal expires in the summer.

The Germany global, who is out of contract next summer, will be available to talk to foreign clubs in January.

As a result, many clubs have expressed an interest in Can and signing him for free will be one of the biggest bargains for any team.

The 23-year-old has held contract talks with Liverpool, but having failed to agree to a deal it seems he will leave the club in the summer.

In an update, it has been claimed that Pep Guardiola is keen to bring Can to replace the ageing Yaya Toure because both the players have a similar playing style and the German will fit in well under the Spaniard's system.

Liverpool will have Naby Keita in the squad next summer, having agreed a £55 million deal with RB Leipzig already.

Dortmund want a holding midfielder next season and sees Can as the flawless player to carry out the role.

"It's also allowed to sign a contract in May, even with a player who is still already here", Klopp said earlier this month.

The Serie A giants could try to sign Can for a cut-price deal in January or strike a pre-contract agreement with the Germany global ahead of a summer switch. "I have no problem with that".
