However, with Rory McIlroy (11th) and Henrik Stenson (13th) sitting the week out, Paul Waring (61st) and Ian Poulter (62nd) have made it in to the field thanks to top 20 finishes at the Nedbank Golf Challenge last week.

Justin Rose is the closest challenger to Tommy Fleetwood this week.

Fleetwood would wrap up the Race to Dubai title with victory at Sun City, but the Englishman will also be focused on finishing strongly and extending his standings lead over Justin Rose ahead of the season-ending Tour Championship next weekend.

"Playing in the Race to Dubai is very, very special and it's something that actually very few people get the chance to do".

Race to Dubai leader Tommy Fleetwood finally found his form with a 5-under 67, which included five birdies and an eagle on the par-5 No. 10. He won the French Open as well.

DP World Tour Championship: Who's in the field?

The European Tour season concludes this week at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai and three men are in the running to become Europe's number one.

Alas, because the 37-year-old appeared in just 12 European Tour events, he faces a substantial deficit at Jumeirah Golf Estates.

Tommy Fleetwood's hopes were increased with a top-10 finish last week in South Africa, and whilst Rose didn't play at the Nedbank, he has won his previous two events at the WGC-HSBC Champions and Turkish Airlines Open.

"Winning The Race to Dubai is great, but I'm not going to change my whole life for it", Garcia added.

Fleetwood is now first with 4,235,987 points, Rose has 3,979,250 and Garcia has 3,184,582. A win would guarantee his second Order of Merit title, but as long as Fleetwood doesn't top the tournament leaderboard, second place could also guarantee him victory. He needs to finish no worse than solo fifth to have any chance.

Sergio Garica: At 1,051,405 points behind Fleetwood, Garcia would need to win his fourth event of the year this week to have a chance at clinching both trophies.
